This is the most bizarre video I have ever seen in my life. I am not being hyperbolic. It starts out with Roger Moore speaking the words to Let it Be, and then the most odd amalgamation of celebrities start appearing. SOME actually singing, but some have been overdubbed with Paul McCartney’s voice COMPLETELY randomly. It’s as if the editor said, “I don’t like the way Corbin Berson from LA Law is singing, put Paul in there!” but left Roger Moore just speaking in? I’m so confused why these people did this!! Tonya Harding “singing” next to Glenn Close??? And they randomly go through a photo album that comes to life with Pamela Anderson, Leslie Neilson and Mickey Rourke in it?? This may keep me up at night.
What do Jason Alexander, Larry Drake and Right Said Fred have in common? This totally bat-shit video! This is really one of the best things I’ve seen in a LONG time. Why did all of these people do this? This is completely insane!
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say this is the best video since “America We Stand As One!”
I let this go way too long. Why does this exist?
Allow a pop nerd to clarify: the audio is from the 1987 “Ferry Aid” version of Let It Be. So you are hearing Paul McCartney, but also Kim Wilde, Kate Bush, and Ben from Curiosity Killed The Cat.
As for why Huey Lewis, Ana Alicia and Larry Drake are lip-syncing it, I truly couldn’t begin to speculate. But it’s a much better fundraising idea than trying to get people to pay for Kim Kardashian’s tweets, I think we can agree.

Dogs in Sweaters!
The other day, I posted the following message to Twitter: “Yes, I would love to see a picture of your dog in a Christmas sweater.” Many thought I was being sarcastic, but these people have obviously never seen a dog in a sweater. Check this out:

If that’s not the best, then I don’t know what. Look, I understand the problem with forcing dogs to wear sweaters. (And you have to force them. You have to pull them over their little heads and make their little feet go through the leg holes. It’s the fun kind of coercion.) Being furry animals, dogs kind of wear a natural sweater all the time. They tend to look uncomfortable in man-made sweaters, because they’re most likely very hot and itchy.
Well, I don’t care. They can put up with a little discomfort if it means we get to look at this:

So, to celebrate the holiday season, AmateurScientist.org is announcing the first annual AmatuerScientist.org Dogs in Sweaters Contest! Just take a photo of your dog (or anyone’s dog, really) in a sweater, and send it to podcast (at) amateurscientist.org. We’ll post updates with some of the best photos between now and December 25th, and the ultimate winner of Best Dog in Sweater will receive a valuable prize.
To be clear, the dog doesn’t have to be in a Christmas sweater. Although…

Come on. It lights up.
Still, I realize not everyone celebrates the birth of our lord and savior Jesus H. Christ, so sweater style is wide open. Frankly, the animal doesn’t even have to be a dog. But there’s no way a ferret or something looks as great in a sweater as this guy:

So, you know what to do. You have a few weeks. Get on it, people.
In conclusion:

An amazing new device.
